    My latest email to KARE11
I still haven't gotten much of a direct response from KARE11 to my email on their report of last weekend -- either from the producer, Lonnie Hartley, or the reporter, Scott Goldberg -- but Goldberg has been sending out a largely boilerplate response to a few folks, which I've been copied on.

    So I sent this:

    Dear Scott:

While I haven't -- yet -- gotten a response from you or Ms. Hartley to my emails on your story of last weekend, I have been copied on your boilerplate response to several folks, and the response is deficient in several respects.

Is your station equally sloppy on other things?  When I see another "investigative" piece on KARE11 -- on a subject matter where I don't have a lot of background -- I'll certainly wonder.

What I won't wonder about, alas, is how eager KARE11 has been to correct errors, and respond to specific, detailed criticism of omissions.

    Sincerely,

    Joel Rosenberg

    Unclear on the concept
Well, we had Million Mom March organizer, spokeswoman and activist Barbara Graham gunning down a man in an attempt to avenge the murder of her son (she shot the wrong guy, and crippled him).  And then we had antigun activist Annette "Flirty" Stevens keeping an unlicensed handgun, with the serial filed off, in her home -- along with some narcotics.

And now we've got antigun activist Sheila Eccleston calling the police about a burglary next door, and encouraging them to make it quick because she had a sawed-off shotgun in her home, one that she admits had been there for six months.

I think some of these folks are unclear on a lot of concepts.

Why would anybody want to carry a handgun?
Well, if you live in Powderhorn, I can think of more  twenty reasons, from May alone, that might have been persuasive . . .

    Outreach
Greg Cotton called me up last week with an idea, and it's not a bad one:  invite a bunch of nonfoaming antis/neutrals out to Oakdale -- as our guests -- and give them an afternoon of gun safety, and hands-on demonstration of firearms, starting off with a few .22s, and working up a bit, although perhaps not all the way up to Greg's .50 cal Serbu BFG (which, in case you don't know, stands for Very Large Gun).  I'm minded to give it a try, if we can get some interest.

If you're interested, ask around, and get back to me.
