My goodness, our young friend has come a long way from that gangly kid who was afraid of the noise and recoil of Ruger .22! I'm very proud of him.

Yup. Like most useful slogans, there are some exceptions. That said, to quibble just to be polite, it's at least arguable that the Jannisaries possessed guns, but didn't own them, being chattels themselves.
