Does suggest a variant of an old joke...
One of the photos from the rally does suggest a variant of an old joke.

How many Teamsters does it take to vote out enough outstate DFLers to flip the Senate in 2006 if the DFL metrocrats manage to sabotage the MCCPA repassage?

a: There are 1.4 million Teamsters, across the US. How many do you need?
b: Enough.
c: Let's not find out.

I promise NOT to call my Senator (Wesley Skoglund) and say, "You know, Jack Kennedy crossed the Teamsters, and look what happened to him."

OK I apologize for even thinking that. I am a bad man.

From "The Gun Guys" anti-gun group ( http://www.gunguys.com/index.htm ) used this in conjunction with the recent threatening email hoax as a show of just how the two compared.
The gun banners will use every slip they can to their advantage.

Well, it's not something I would have said, but it's also not something I felt right about deleting. A little Teamsters humor is, I think, acceptable -- particularly to the guys I know who are in the Teamsters.

On a more serious note, if his previous self-embarrassments haven't killed Wesley "Skogie" Skoglund's political career, I'm not sure what would. He's backed off his public obsession (I wouldn't know about a private one, and wouldn't want to guess) with the invisible permit-holding window peekers that only he was able to see; his rantings on the Senate floor, last week, weren't delivered from inside a flak jacket this time, and so forth -- perhaps he's learning, as hard as that is to believe.

That said, interestingly, I couldn't find "the Gun Guys'" supposed comparison. I wonder if they had a word with their attorney. Or maybe they quickly realized that the criminal hoax email has done a lot of damage to their cause, as the obvious speculation is that it was done by somebody desperate to try to do anything to derail the repassage, which was obviously about to happen . . . and obviously did happen.

On that, I guess we'll see.

Thanks for the heads-up. The Gun Guys did not do me the courtesy of letting me know they were quoting me; could you forward me the email you mentioned? I didn't see it on their site either.

I apologize if I worried or embarrassed anybody but I stand by my original post as self-evidently not serious (you'll recall it started out. "I promise NOT to call my Senator..." ). I always assume that anything I post anyplace could be read by the whole world.

Anyway my union recently became part of the Teamsters so I can now report authoritatively that we didn't shoot JFK. ;)

Lets see if I can figure out how to paste their email here

Can't do the entire message, apparently too long.

Here is the link they used:

  • MN:  Anyone Else Notice the Parallels Between the Language In the Above Email And The Content of This Website From MN?  “You know, Jack Kennedy crossed the Teamsters, and look what happened to him”  (5.18)

    Well, that worked nicely!

Thanks. I don't think I'll bother complaining to the Gun Guys about being quoted out of context, though. Not enough hours/day for that.

I am on their email list. It's got a lot of petty sarcasm. I'll forward a copy to you.
